I had a bit of a crazy week…I am wrapping up a few renovations and am starting to design some spaces for new clients. And in between all this, quite frankly, are hundreds of calls and emails and texts, just to make sure that everybody is where they are supposed to be, when they are supposed to be there. My clients see the smooth and seamless surface. Underneath the water….I am paddling like a mad woman. And I really love it all! Truly. A client once described me as “part design wonder / part exacting scientist”. To be successful in this business, you really do have to have both capacities.
SO. How do I mange to come home at the end of the day and continue to breathe?
HERE IS THE ANSWER: I have created an inspiration board in my office. It is a floor to ceiling framed cork board. (See attached image) There are current images and reminders of the deep past. I look at it every day. I am constantly editing. By having this representation of the present and the past, of things of beauty, whatever, I keep in touch with ME, whatever that ME is.
MAKE YOUR OWN INSPIRATION BOARD. Keep reminding yourself everyday who you are, where you have been and where you want to go. Then, remember to be present. There is nothing like the big, vast NOW.
