(Guest blog from Arcadian Home)
Hello, everyone! It’s Mari here with a guest post from Arcadian Home blog, a wonderful place to find interior design inspiration including great decorating ideas for everything from fabulous folding screens to stylish decorative accessories for every room.
I’m so happy to be here with you at Marcia Butler Interior Design today to share some of my favorite interior spaces with pale color palettes—rooms that are at once beautiful and serene. The eight room images I’ve brought along to share with you today tend, not by design but by happy circumstance, toward soft blue and gray hues. Please enjoy!
This light-filled entryway welcomes guests and family with open arms. It’s warm and inviting, with washed wood floor, blue accessories and a lovely soft color palette. Black metal on the garden stool and table base add interest without detracting from the overall pale look of the space.
Pale grayed blue and cream are used to great effect in this colonial bedroom. Wide stripes, checks and a tiny floral print merge to create a restrained yet appealing look.
Washed wood and “stone” walls create a serene background in this contemporary bedroom. The palest of pale watery blue covering the pillows on the bedroom adds a special touch to this greige space. Even the artwork is appealingly pale.
This gray and greige color palette merges a tile backsplash with stunning marble above the cooktop and on the counters. It’s pale with just a splash of dark drama. Swing arm wall lamps often reserved for the library or the bedroom look just right on either side of the gray range hood.
Pale gray cabinets look lovely with the rustic wood ceiling in this farmhouse kitchen. It’s altogether serene inside and out—a wonderful space for cooking and thinking.
What a wonderful mix of soft colors from beige to tan and blue to gray. A rug that brings the entire palette of pale colors together on a black background anchors this inviting space.
A pale but slightly glamorous bedroom is the perfect place for a large-scale pattern on the wall. By using soft colors like these on a stenciled wall the overall effect is beautifully feminine but in no way overpowering—a lovely look.
Calm and retreat-like, this just might be the ultimate pale bath. Horizontal-striped drapery panels in blue and silver look beautiful against the delicately patterned wallpaper. An updated bell jar glass pendant light adds more visual interest over the tub. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8
